The furnace would make the upstairs warm, but downstairs cold due to the heat rising. The Mr. Heater does such a good job heating the downstairs, then the heat rises into the upstairs, it heats the whole house. We don't even use our furnace anymore. Saves a ton of money compared to the furnace.
