If you have 5 boilers providing all your power and you add 20 more, now you have 25 boilers providing all the power which means the consumption per boiler should, theoretically, be smaller. I suspect OP is feeding coal into boilers manually. What he actually achieves by adding more boilers is having a coal buffer, highly inefficient that is.
